TOG24: A Legacy of Quality and Family
Founding and Early Years
TOG24 was founded in 1958 by Donald Ward, affectionately known as "Big D." With roots in West Yorkshire, Ward began his career as a millwright, repairing looms in Dewsbury's vibrant textile industry. By the late 1950s, he had accumulated enough expertise to launch his own company.
Evolution of the Product Line
Initially, TOG24's factory in Heckmondwike, Spen Valley, focused on producing footwear. In the 1970s, the company diversified into sports bags and football kits. As the brand's popularity soared, the product range expanded to include waterproofs and fleeces, and eventually skiwear and casual clothing. Regardless of the product, everything adhered to the company's guiding principle.
TOG24: "Truth Over Glory Everyday"
The name TOG24 embodies the spirit of "Truth Over Glory Everyday." The brand is not about the pursuit of grandiose outdoor achievements, such as planting flags on mountaintops or conquering icy slopes. Instead, TOG24 celebrates the genuine outdoor experiences that everyone can enjoy, like walking with friends to the pub or skiing with family to a bar.

Present and Future
Today, TOG24 remains headquartered at Spen Vale Mills in Heckmondwike, West Yorkshire. Although manufacturing no longer takes place there, the design process is still rooted in the Spen Valley. As a family-run business, Donald Ward's sons and grandsons continue to uphold the company's values. TOG24 is committed to expanding its reputation for providing high-quality, affordable products worldwide, ensuring that its legacy endures.
Our Stores
TOG24 began with the factory shop in Heckmondwike. Originally carpeted in off cuts of fleece and selling seconds and ends of lines out of cardboard boxes, the store did so well that we stopped trying to sell TOG24 to other people’s shops and set up our own chain of stores. TOG24 now sells from over 60 outlets across Britain and Ireland, (and for the biggest bargains you can still visit us at our original factory shop in Heckmondwike).
Our Future
TOG24 are still based in Spen Vale Mills in Heckmondwike, West Yorkshire. We’re still very much a family firm; Don’s sons and grandsons run the firm now, and we still follow our motto. TOG24 has continued to expand and in the future we hope our reputation for supplying high quality, value for money goods will continue to grow worldwide.
