Born in 1989

A staple piece in TOG24's history. The original Aztec Fleece was made in 1989, designed for both outdoor enthusiasts and the casual wearer. A product that reflected the 'Truth Over Glory Everyday' values that still remain to this day.


The fleece came with multiple designs and was made in our Yorkshire Factory, in the Spen Valley town of Heckmondwike.

First manufactured

A brand new and innovative fleece fabric was sourced from Malden Mills in the USA (known as Polarlite 2). This would eventually be known as Polartec fleece. This material helped the fleece provide lightweight warmth and great comfort.

At the time the Aztec was described as "a product that was made for the active outdoors, or the casual wearer."

Growing in popularity

Through the 1990's, the Aztec Fleece was a best seller for TOG24 and was introduced as a leading piece in various catalogues. More designs and colours were added to keep up with the popular demand.

Variations introduced

More colour ways were developed and introduced over the years. Colour combinations included Green / Navy / Firecracker, Thunderbird / Navy / Firecracker, and Polar Plum / Navy / Thunderbird. Aztec patterns were added across seams.

Redesigned for AW24

Inspired by one of our most loved heritage fleeces from 30+ years back, our design team has recreated the fleece with a modern twist. Available as part of the Autumn Winter 2024 range.

Combining the appeal of a retro-inspired design with all the modern style, the 2024 remake stands as a testament to one of our most popular heritage fleeces. 

Back with a bold design and colours, it's a piece of TOG24 history that remains to this day.
