New year, new look: 2024 fashion trends to help update your wardrobe

A brand-new year is here! As well as making goals for the months and weeks ahead, you might be wondering how you might switch up your look.

Love to stay up to date with all the latest fashions? Or maybe you’re just after a little inspiration to help refresh your wardrobe? From which colours are set to be in to specific styles for different seasons, we’ve got the lowdown on what to wear in 2024. Let’s take a look at a handful of the biggest fashion trends for the new year and how you can get the look with TOG24.

  1. Preppy styling

The preppy look is set to be a major trend in 2024 – and there’s one item in particular that’s been spotted on numerous catwalks all over the world...

We’re talking about the polo shirt: a classic heritage piece which offers a hint of formality with the addition of a tailored collar and buttons. While they’re most commonly worn by men, 2024 will see the polo shirt become a key part of every woman’s wardrobe.

Why not dip your toe into this trend with our Aspley Women’s Tech Polo which comes in two timeless shades? Tuck your polo into your favourite high-waisted jeans or a leather-look skirt for a more sophisticated, put-together finish that’s not just for days out in the countryside.

  2. Short shorts

Shorts are always going to be a summer staple, right? Well, in 2024, you can expect mini shorts to be all the rage. Any fabric or colour will do too. And all the better if they’re mid or high-waisted.

At TOG24, we’ve always got a selection of women’s shorts to browse – from tailored chino shorts in neutrals like khaki and grey to flowy options in pretty pastel tones perfect for the warmer months. Keep an eye out for new styles as the year goes on too.

  3. Wintery white

Not quite ready to relinquish your winter wardrobe? With several weeks of the chilliest season still to go, why not add some 2024 styling into your ensembles with this year’s ‘it’ colour?

Effortlessly chic and easy to style, white is a truly timeless shade that can be worn for both casual and formal occasions. Layer up in the Kirkby Women’s Funnel Neck Fleece in white or update your everyday jacket collection with the soft Maxine Women’s Shacket in white sand.

Is skiing on your agenda this spring? Hit the slopes in an all-white ensemble with our Anvil Women’s Insulated Padded Ski Jacket and Drivis Women’s Salopettes.

  4. The return of the cardigan

While comfy knitwear never goes out of style, the cuts and shapes of them do change. For 2024, a prominent feature on the catwalks for spring/summer was the cardigan.

Easy to layer over all kinds of outfits and great for chillier days, the cardigan really is a fail-safe option. Fair isle knits are set to be particularly popular in 2024. You can also achieve that cosy, contrasting colour look with our Clio Women’s Stripe Cardigan which comes in two lovely shades (including on-trend white!).

  5. Sporty yet chic

This 2024 fashion trend offers the perfect balance of comfort and style. It also allows you to give a more stylish finish to typically very casual sportswear ensembles.

To get the look, why not pair your softest fleece over an elegant black skirt? Alternatively, nail the trend with a classic sportswear jacket such as our Keld Women’s Softshell Hooded Jacket and a pair of tailored trousers in a neutral shade.

  6. Sandals made for adventure

Yep, you read that right. 2024’s summer footwear of choice is all about practical, classic sandals that can be worn for pretty much any and all occasions.

Styles to add to your shoe collection include simple slider sandals that can be paired with flowy dresses, plus utility designs with straps and buckles perfect for outdoor pursuits. Flip flops will also be very much in – and you don’t have to be heading off on a beach holiday for them to look stylish.

  7. Icy blue

Another colour to keep an eye out for in 2024 is blue. Specifically, lighter tones of blue that automatically create a sense of calm and remind you of clear skies or calm seas.

How you decide to wear this shade is totally up to you. Opt for a pop of pale blue with a graphic tee like the Cara Women’s T-shirt in ice blue. You could also update your accessories in this stunning shade or go all-out with a light blue insulated or down jacket to keep you warm in the great outdoors.

  8. Garden florals

Florals continuously make the rounds in the fashion world – and 2024 is no different. This year, they’ve become more grown-up and daintier, coming in dark and moody tones.

This includes black and white floral prints, like the one found on our Emmie Women’s Jumpsuit, as well as romantic reds and pinks such as the pattern on our pretty Heather Women’s Midi Dress. Both are ideal options for sunnier summer days or holidays in balmier locations.
